Easier access to the Old Town

A lift at Car Park 9 is active again. It will connect the parking lot with Piazzale Calcigni. An important service for tourists and residents

From tomorrow the service of the lift to reach Porta San Francesco will be available again. After a timely renovation work, one of the two lifts that connect Floor 0 of Car Park 9 directly to Piazzale Calcigni will be active again, a three-storey ascent at the moment without intermediate stops, which at full capacity allows 630 people to be transported in one hour.
The lift will quickly travel the 30 meters in altitude, at a speed of 1.6 meters per second, returning to provide an important service for the tourists who flock to the Old Town and for the citizens who use it, guaranteeing transfer directly to the floor of Piazzale Calcigni in complete safety despite the fact that the construction site is still open to complete the renovation of the flooring and the remaining landings.

Within the next two weeks, the second lift of the installation will also be active, including the Piazzale Nazioni Unite stop, thus doubling the capacity up to 1260 people per hour, satisfying all the needs of the tourist flows towards Porta San Francesco and the city’s Old Town.
