San Marino lights up for Christmas of Wonders 2025-2026

The traditional lighting of The Christmas of Wonders illuminations took place this afternoon in Piazza della Libertà, with the evocative lighting of the 12-metre-high Big Star.

Present at the ceremony were the Minister of Tourism Federico Pedini Amati, the Director of the Tourism Board  Annachiara Sica, the CEO of Nextime Alberto Di Rosa, and Simone Ranieri, artistic director and director of the event.

Light is one of the main features of this new edition, with sparkling lights amplifying the festive musical settings and surprising light effects enhancing the most iconic locations in the historic centre of the Republic of San Marino, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Piazza della Libertà and the Basilica del Santo, true scenes of emotion and wonder, a veritable open-air stage, in line with the theme of this edition, A Timeless Story, with live shows and entertainment, installations in Piazzale Domus Plebis, including evocative projections on the Basilica.

Among the main attractions on the programme:
Timeless Village at Campo Bruno Reffi, with creative workshops for making Christmas decorations, animated readings, a mini-carousel with wooden horses and a miniature train. The traditional Christmas Markets in Via Eugippo and Via Donna Felicissima are confirmed, with gifts, crafts, food and wine products and traditional sweets, and the Ice Park at Cava dei Balestrieri, with its large ice rink. A New Year's Eve party is planned in Piazza Sant'Agata on 31st December, starting at 22.15, to welcome in the new year with joy and share its magic.

The spectacular Christmas lights will remain on until 6th January, making the Christmas atmosphere even more magical and charming.

Christmas of Wonders is ready to welcome visitors from Saturday 29 November at 10.30, while the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 17,00 in Piazza della Libertà.
