Inauguration of the Christmas of Wonders

The magic of the Christmas of Wonders will return to envelop the Old Town of San Marino from Saturday 30 November; it will be a unique event that promises to make visitors and citizens experience timeless emotions.

This year, Christmas in San Marino will be transformed into A Place of Another Time, an exciting journey through the most traditional values ​​and symbols of the Christmas holidays. The medieval streets of the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enriched with sparkling lights, festive sounds and new attractions will welcome and enchant adults and children until 6 January 2025.

Since yesterday, the entire Old Town has been decorated with elegant lights and installations inspired by classic Christmas themes, creating an exciting path that will lead visitors through squares and alleys steeped in history.

Starting next weekend, there are many attractions and entertainment that will welcome all those who choose the Republic of San Marino to celebrate this enchanting period.

Inauguration of the Christmas of Wonders 2024-2025
On Saturday 30 November at 16.00 the Roaring Marching Band Parade will begin, bringing joy and happiness from Campo Bruno Reffi to Porta della Fratta, Contrada Santa Croce, Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza Titano and Via Eugippo. At 17.00 the Marching Band will reach Piazza della Libertà for a short musical show. This will be followed by choreographic shows and the lighting of the glittering Carriage of Wonders, in the presence of the Institutions that will leave everyone breathless and that will officially start the flagship event of the San Marino winter.

Main new features of this edition

This year Campo Bruno Reffi will host the fantastic Santa's Alpaca Village with Santa's Cabin, the Music Box Cabin and the Alpaca Cabin.
In Santa's Cabin children will be able to meet Santa Claus himself until 25 December; from 26 December the cabin will be a real brick workshop with wooden toys available.
Inside the Music Box Cabin visitors can experience a real dive into the past through magical working music boxes full of lights chosen by the Mularoni family; in addition, the little ones can dedicate themselves to reading Christmas stories in the library.
Finally, the Alpaca Cabin where children will carry out educational workshops and decorate alpaca silhouettes.

In the nearby former ice rink a special surprise awaits the little ones; Fonzie, Senape and Lady, three very sweet alpacas, will be the protagonists of a truly unique experience: entering the enclosure, interacting with them, getting to know them and petting them and, at the end, taking a souvenir photo to take home as a symbol of a truly special Christmas.

Next to Santa's Alpaca Village, The Merry-Go-Round of Memories, a traditional original 19th century carousel-carousel with horses and carriages in solid wood inlaid and decorated by hand by true master craftsmen, the only one still in operation in all of Italy. A ride on the Carousel will be an unforgettable experience with a vintage flavour.

Piazza della Libertà will be The Square of Memories embellished with magical lights, sounds and projections with a vintage theme and will welcome visitors with the Carriage of Wonders, an original, elegant and imposing Carriage with life-size horses, in which you can enter and take photos, selfies or videos for a unique memory to post on social media and with the majestic and traditional Christmas Tree decorated with festoons that will recall the 19th century era and enhanced by magical lights, sounds and projections.

As in the best San Marino Christmas tradition, there will be the Ice Park with the skating rink in Cava dei Balestrieri, the Markets with the traditional huts in via Eugippo and via Felicissima while the Galleria Cassa di Risparmio will host the Exhibition from Another Time and the charity markets.

The Christmas of Wonders, A Place from Another Time, where dream and reality meet in the heart of the Republic of San Marino, awaits visitors from 10:30 on Saturday 30 November.
