First day of official meetings for the Minister of Tourism Federico Pedini Amati at Expo Osaka 2025

.

The San Marino Special Day anticipated the celebrations for the National Day of the Republic of San Marino to be held tomorrow, 3 May

Tomorrow, 3 May 2025 will see the celebration of San Marino National Day at Expo Osaka 2025, the highest celebration of a country's identity in the context of the World Expo.

National Day was preceded today by ‘San Marino Special Day’, an initiative to promote San Marino tourism, traditions, music and art at Expo 2025 and to announce the day of celebration scheduled for tomorrow.

The ‘San Marino Special Day’, held in the splendid setting of the Shining Hat auditorium, was opened by Minister Federico Pedini Amati's greeting: ‘San Marino is a country rooted in freedom, independence and solidarity. It is the oldest Republic in the world and we are proud to bring our commitment to peace, cooperation and the enhancement of traditions to the international stage today in the show that precedes our National Day,’ Pedini Amati explained to a large and attentive audience. Today, through music and historical re-enactment we will take you on a journey that explores our history and our connection with Japan. A journey that celebrates millenary traditions but also the beauty of dialogue between peoples and cultures'.

The Minister's speech was followed by that of Commissioner General Filippo Francini. The show continued with a performance by the ensemble of the Istituto Musicale Sammarinese with the composition ‘From the hearth of San Marino to Osaka day’, a concert by violinist Ikuko Kawai, appointed Pavillon Ambassador, and a performance by the San Marino Crossbowmen's Federation, testimony to the historical tradition of the Republic of San Marino thousands of kilometres away.

The celebrations continued on the Central Stage of the Common-C, the building inside which the San Marino Pavilion is located, with the performance Bohemienne Harmonies: notes from Paris to San Marino with Aldo Capicchioni and Michela Zanotti on violin, Anselmo Pelliccioni on cello, Marco Torsani on clarinet and Akiko Yatani on viola.

The day had opened with Minister Federico Pedini Amati's first visit to the San Marino Pavilion, welcomed by Director Laura Franciosi and her staff. The meeting with the volunteers and the guided tour of the experiences planned in the area designed by the University of San Marino, and, at the end, the dedication on the signature book.

In the afternoon, official visits to the pavilions of Croatia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Poland.

The delegation formed by the Minister of Tourism Federico Pedini Amati, Expo Commissioner Filippo Francini, Deputy Minister Alan Gasperoni and the Director of the San Marino Pavilion Laura Franciosi visited the exhibition space of Croatia, a friendly land located in the same hub as the San Marino pavilion. This was followed by a visit to the Pavilion of Saudi Arabia by Adel Alfayez Deputy Commissioner General. During the meeting, the excellent relations between the two States and the desire for cooperation in anticipation of the next Expo to be held in Riyadh in five years' time were repeatedly reaffirmed, with a presentation of the project realised by the Saudi Arabian organisation and the opportunities for the countries that will decide to join.
The meeting closed with the Minister's message on the guestbook: ‘San Marino looks with interest at the growing cooperation with Saudi Arabia and hopes that moments like this can strengthen friendship, exchanges and common projects in the tourist field and beyond. See you in Riyad in five years‘ time’.

The tour continued with a visit to the Pavilion of the Arab Emirates and that of Poland (President-in-Office of the Council of Europe) with a valuable final meeting that laid the foundations for prestigious collaborations between the two countries.

The presence of the San Marino authorities at Expo allows for the expression of the uniqueness of the Republic, the peculiarity of its traditions and its institutions (the presence of two Guards of the Great and General Council accompanying the delegation is particularly appreciated), as well as its own excellence, but also its commitment to contemporary global themes.

Tomorrow's Day, the most important of the entire participation in Expo, includes a series of official visits in which the Most Excellent Captains Regent will also take part and a long musical show concluded by the traditional performance of the San Marino Crossbowmen's Federation.
