San Marino establishes itself as a congress centre of excellence: a driver of development and investment for the Republic

San Marino, 19 June 2025 – The Republic of San Marino, with its unparalleled offer of historical settings and modern infrastructures, confirms itself as an attractive centre for congress tourism, a sector that is often underestimated but of crucial economic and strategic importance for the country. Recent successes, such as the excellent participation and organisation of the "Next" event, are a clear demonstration of this, highlighting the vitality and solidity of a sector that generates significant induced activity for San Marino’s entire supply chain.
Numbers highlight a constant growth in revenues directly linked to event services and the rental of conference rooms.
These revenues are steadily around 600,000 euros per year just for the use of facilities and direct services, representing the tip of the iceberg of a much broader and more dynamic ecosystem.
In addition to these numbers, a considerable induced effect pervades the entire economy of the Titano. Congress tourism generates significant financial flows for the sectors of catering, technical services, set-ups, translation agencies and all related services, bringing a total of over two million euros to the Republic. In addition to this, the hotel presences, essential for the hospitality sector, which are directly fueled by the influx of delegates and participants in the events.

"Congress tourism in San Marino is a strategic pillar of our tourist economy, often overlooked but unequivocally robust and a generator of value," says the Minister of Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati. "Contrary to certain narratives that downplay its importance or even suggest unfounded hypotheses about the closure of key structures such as the Kursaal, data demonstrates a very different reality: a healthy sector, capable of attracting international events and stimulating qualified investments. It is time to fully recognize its potential as a lever for innovation, internationalization and the development of a high-level hotel offering, essential for consolidating our position as a destination of excellence."
The Ministry of Tourism intends to continue with determination in strengthening the sector, recognizing its primary role not only in generating direct and indirect economic flows, but also in promoting the international image of the Republic. The aim is to expand the areas dedicated to conference activities, stimulate new investments in top-class accommodation facilities and consolidate San Marino's reputation as a privileged location for conferences, conventions and meetings of global scope.
