Feast of Saint Marinus and Foundation of the Republic Day –   3 September

In San Marino's Old Town, the day will be dedicated to tradition, culture and entertainment, featuring religious celebrations in honour of the Patron Saint, the evocative Historical Procession and the traditional Palio delle Balestre Grandi (Great Crossbow Tournament). The afternoon continues in Piazza della Libertà with a concert by the Military Band of the Republic of San Marino, accompanied by the voice of Valentina Monetta, followed by the traditional Grand Tombola. In the evening, Marina Rei will perform in concert at Campo Bruno Reffi, with a spectacular fireworks display bringing the celebrations to a close.

Women's lab at sunset –   4 September

A free evening dedicated to women’s wellbeing and social connection. The programme includes a Pilates class, followed by a sunset yoga session and a guided Silent Party. A Mini Lab for children will also be available, featuring games and activities for the little ones. To round off the evening, the “Buonissimo per Natura” food truck will be on hand for those who wish to stay for dinner and enjoy a relaxed, informal atmosphere.

From the Tourist to the Farmer – from 4 to 6 September

An event celebrating the Republic of San Marino’s food and wine excellence, traditions and culture. An opportunity to meet local producers and restaurateurs, discover the six local agri-food supply chains, and take part in tastings, workshops for adults and children, agriculture-themed activities, traditional wooden games, street food and live music. Among the activities on offer is the “Mani in Pasta” workshop with Sammarinese azdore, as well as the opportunity to make a beeswax candle. As part of the event, on Sunday 6 September at 17.30, the “Dalla Terra alla Tavola” venue will be officially inaugurated in Borgo Maggiore, together with the Campo della Fiera lift and the Cantinette. The day will continue with the Dragon Valley DJ Set, at 20.00 at the Cable Car and at 22:00 in Piazza Grande.

6° Bunta's Car Meeting  –   5 September

The Bunta’s Car Meeting returns for its sixth edition, an event dedicated to Japanese car enthusiasts, taking place in the P7 car park, just a short walk from the Old Town. From 14:00 until late evening, the area will host a selection of cars on display, welcoming enthusiasts, curious visitors and anyone interested in the automotive world. Food trucks will also be on hand throughout the day.
Free entry, with no reservation required for visitors. Those wishing to participate as exhibitors can contact the organisers by email.

San Marino Matsuri 2026  –   5 and 6 September

On September 5 and 6, San Marino will celebrate the 12th anniversary of the “San Marino Jinja”, a symbol of the friendship and deep ties between the Republic and Japan. Two days dedicated to Japanese culture and traditions, featuring workshops and activities for children, an evocative kabuki performance by actor Otani Hiromatsu and, on Sunday, the traditional procession of the golden Mikoshi through the streets of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, carried by Japanese and Sammarinese volunteers. An event that renews the message of peace and strengthens the bond between the two countries.

Exhibitions

 9x9 Opere tra Muri e Pareti  –  until 3 September 

Running alongside the second edition of “BUONENOVE – Public Art for the Republic of San Marino”, the exhibition “9×9: Works Between Walls and Surfaces” will be on view at the First Tower. Conceived as an in-depth complement to the festival, the exhibition brings together the experiences of the first edition and the new projects currently underway, offering visitors an insight into the artists’ work and the process through which public art contributes to the transformation of the territory.

Singing Francis – until 20 September
An art exhibition dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi and the Canticle of the Creatures, held to mark the 800th anniversary of his death. Curated by Sister Maria Gloria Riva and Davide Rondoni, the exhibition brings together works by artists inspired by Francis’s spiritual legacy and is divided into three sections: Singing Nature, Singing Places, and Singing Francis.

Sacred Pop Icons, by Simone Legno – until 30 September

The exhibition tells the story of an Expo legacy that continues to build bridges, born from the experience of Expo Osaka 2025 and the collaboration between the Republic of San Marino and the Dicastery for Evangelization. Hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, the exhibition features works that reinterpret the symbols of Christian tradition through a contemporary language of colours, essential forms, and an aesthetic capable of engaging with diverse audiences. A meeting point between art, culture, and spirituality, included in the programme of celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi (1226–2026).
