Domenico Maria Belzoppi
Life and events from youth to exile
On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of his death, the intricate political and human parable of Domenico Maria Belzoppi is illustrated in the spaces of Public Palace from 19 April to 6 September 2024 in an exhibition organized by the Cultural Institutes - Archive and State Library entitled "Domenico Maria Belzoppi. Life and events from youth to exile".
Domenico Maria Belzoppi was a prominent figure throughout thirty years of life in San Marino, committed to safeguarding the independence of the Republic and granting the right of asylum to the Italian patriots of the Risorgimento, five times Captain Regent and among the protagonists of the so-called "Scampo Garibaldino”.
Thanks to the collaboration of the historian Giuseppe Giardi, with his cultural dissemination project "Storie in Flanella - History in Flannel", during the visit it will be possible to make use of a "narrated audio guide" of the events of Belzoppi's life, accessible to visitors through their smartphones, in Italian and English.
The voices that will accompany those who want to use this tool along the exhibition route will be those of scholars, experts and historians, from San Marino and beyond.
The exhibition is located inside the Public Palace: find out the visiting times here
