San Marino Comics is back

The Festival celebrates the 50th anniversary of the anime Lupin III

The Festival of Comics and POP Culture of the Republic of San Marino is back with many events that will entertain visitors on 27, 28 and 29 August in the oldest historic centre of the world.

Every year the poster of the event is entrusted to great authors and designers and for this edition Lupin III was chosen, an iconic character loved by three generations of fans around the world. In fact, 50 years have passed since the broadcast of the anime series of the famous thief, grandson of Arsène Lupine (based on Maurice Leblanc’s novels) and since then 6 television series have been made, including "Lupin III and the Italian adventure” set in Italy and San Marino.

Thanks to the collaboration with the San Marino Embassy in Tokyo led by H.E. Ambassador Manlio Cadelo, through the Embassy Councilor, Mr. Riccardo Riccioni and with the support of the Japan San Marino Friendship Society (in the person of the President Danilo Chiaruzzi), the production company TMS Entertainment allowed the San Marino Comics Association to use Lupine III to promote the festival.

The poster depicts Lupine III and his team on the Passo delle Streghe (Witches’ Pass) being pursued by the unstoppable inspector Zenigata. The author of the image is the cartoonist Masao Yokobori, affiliated with Telecom Animation Film and responsible for the development of the characters of the episodes Lupin the 3rd Part4 and Part5. The second key-visual of the series is depicted on the poster and, in chronological order, it follows the first key-visual of the episode in which shortly before Lupin, depicted together with his companion Jigen, is preparing to attack San Marino from above the roofs of the town. In addition to the usual dynamism of the character, the image also expresses the profound sensations captured by Yokobori during his trip to San Marino prior to the production of the series, such as the intense blue of the skies and the strong emotionality given by the beautiful views of the Republic.

Thanks to an important collaboration with MEDIASET-RTI, in order to celebrate the famous character, the organization of the San Marino Comics Festival has already prepared many events including the realization of the Pala-Lupin located in Via Eugippo where all the merchandising of Lupine III will be available including the creation of "Casa Lupin", a branded "Lupine The 3rd" setting for wonderful selfies.

Moreover the Italian voice actor of Lupin, Stefano Onofri will accompany visitors on a "narrated walk" organized with Track & Field San Marino and which will reach all the locations seen in the animated series "Lupin III and the Italian adventure".

It will also be possible to meet the cosplayers of Lupin's team and collect for free the limited edition official postcard depicting the wonderful poster of the eighth edition of the San Marino Comics Festival.

San Marino Comics is an event sponsored by the Ministries for Tourism, Culture, Industry and Health and with the support the San Marino Municipality and the San Marino Tourism Board.
