San Marino Goodbye, the Romagna folk dance is back in the spotlight
Mirko Casadei and his "big band" celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Romagna Mia song in San Marino
The 2024 edition of San Marino Goodbye, the Festival dedicated to the world of Romagna folk music and ballroom dancing, now in its fifth edition, which will be held on Wednesday 10 July at Campo Bruno Reffi in San Marino, has been presented this morning at a Press Conference.
The event, wanted by the Ministry of Tourism to keep alive the link of the Republic of San Marino with the Romagna region tradition, aims to guarantee fans of the genre a unique evening during which Mirko Casadei, the last heir of the lineage of Secondo and Raoul, performs with his "big band" of 14 elements in a journey made up of history and evolution of Romagna folk music.
The 2024 edition of "San Marino Goodbye" is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the publication of the song Romagna Mia. "Mirko Casadei guarantees the future of the Romagna folk music by skilfully transporting it over the years - said Federico Pedini Amati - and we are really pleased to be able to organize this event together with him. Every year we look for something new and a special dedication, this edition will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the popular song Romagna Mia which is a real anthem of our territory. If it is true that we are not Italians or even Romagna geographically - continued Pedini Amati - we cannot say that we are not culturally ".
"We are very happy to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Romagna Mia in San Marino - explained Mirko Casadei - this land has always had a strong bond with our family starting from the song that gives its name to this festival and which was the first written by my father Raoul for the orchestra of his uncle Secondo. I always come back with pleasure to play here, I feel at home. Returning to Romagna Mia - concluded Mirko Casadei - I like to remember that it is back in vogue as a celebratory song of Romagna's resilience after the flood and that even President Mattarella mentioned it in his end-of-year speech. The people of Romagna are like that, even in the worst moment of their history they thought it best to start singing!" .
The appointment with San Marino Goodbye Festival is at 21.00 on Wednesday 10 July in Campo Bruno Reffi, in the Old Town of the Republic of San Marino. Free admission.
