World Tourism Day 2024

Today the United Nations, through the World Tourism Organization "UN Tourism", celebrates World Tourism Day with the theme: "Tourism and Peace".

World Tourism Day 2024 aims to explore the intersection of tourism and peacebuilding, highlighting how travel, cultural exchange and sustainable tourism practices can contribute to conflict resolution, reconciliation and the promotion of peace worldwide . The search for peace is a continuous commitment and tourism plays a fundamental role in this.

Furthermore, as UN Tourism itself recalled, "tourism is built with the bricks of peace: social justice, human rights, economic equity, sustainable development and large-scale democracy".

Tourism is a pillar of the global economy and has the great power to bring people together in peaceful circumstances and positive coexistence. Furthermore, peace-sensitive tourism is synonymous with social responsibility.

Tourism is innovation and enterprise and represents a fundamental economic sector for our country. It encourages creative solutions and new business models, drives economic growth and guarantees unique opportunities for young people.

The Minister of Tourism invites all people engaged in the tourism, trade, events, hospitality and catering sectors to celebrate World Tourism Day 2024 and thanks them for their commitment. 

Above all, Happy World Tourism Day to the 2 million tourists who visit our Republic every year.
