BUONENOVE is born: the first urban art event in the Republic of San Marino. Nine artists of national and international fame, nine site-specific works in the nine Castles (Municipalities) of the territory. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of the Territory.

From June 14th until the end of September. The Republic of San Marino is preparing to host BUONENOVE, the first widespread urban art event in its territory: from June 14th until the end of September, nine artists of national and international fame, create site-specific interventions in each of the nine Castles (Municipalities), transforming walls, partitions and urban surfaces into permanent works of art. A project of urban regeneration through the languages of art. BUONENOVE was born from an idea by Davide Pagliardini, Visual & Motion Designer from San Marino, with the aim of enhancing and redeveloping public spaces and the urban landscape of San Marino through visual art, generating a dialogue between contemporary languages and local identity, between creativity and collective memory. Walls and places, some of which are in disuse, will thus be able to acquire new meanings through artistic incursions, capable of creating new processes of interaction and relationship with them. Taking care of a city, of a territory, in fact also means making it more beautiful: this is the profound meaning that urban regenerative art brings with it. BUONENOVE is not just an event in which murals are created, but a participatory project that invites citizens to look at everyday places with new eyes. An accessible, widespread art capable of activating reflections, emotions and new affiliations.

The locations, the artists, the program. Each artist has been selected for their distinctive style and sensitivity to the context, with the aim of freely interpreting the connection between space and work, imagining new visions for San Marino’s urban landscape.

In addition, throughout the month of August, a collective exhibition will be open to visitors in the gallery of Cassa di Risparmio di San Marino, in the Old Town, dedicated to the artists involved in the event, with materials, sketches, documentation and insights into the project.

Institutional Statements

Federico Pedini Amati Minister of Tourism, Cooperation, Posts, Information, Expo and attraction of tourism investments: "BUONENOVE represents an initiative of great value for the promotion of our territory through culture, talent and creativity. It is also a concrete opportunity to attract visitors interested in urban art to San Marino. A further step after the work created on the walls of the Sit Group company and the resulting exhibition of the artist Kobra, which we promoted last year in our institutional spaces. As the Ministry of Tourism, we are proud to support projects that enhance our excellence and generate new forms of attractiveness".

Matteo Ciacci Minister of Territory and Environment:
“Through these artistic creations, forgotten or degraded places are transformed into points of interest and cultural enhancement, encouraging a process of urban revitalization and regeneration. These interventions contribute to strengthening the sense of community and promoting sustainable development, demonstrating how art can be a driver of renewal and renewed attention towards our territory”.

Teodoro Lonfernini Minister of Education and Culture: "BUONENOVE is an extraordinary platform for the involvement of young generations, a meeting point between education, creativity and active citizenship. Through art and culture, critical thinking, dialogue and belonging are stimulated: fundamental values for the growth of our community. We are convinced that investing in projects like this is investing in the future”.

Annachiara Sica Director of the Tourism Board
