San Marino at Expo 2025 Osaka "We Are Mountains"

An exhibition to relive all the energy and pride of an international adventure

The exhibition retracing the Republic of San Marino's entire journey at Expo 2025 Osaka, highlighting its creativity, identity, and vision, opened yesterday evening (9 September) at the Galleria Cassa di Risparmio.
The exhibition, which will remain open throughout the month of September, retraces the highlights of this participation. On display are a 3D model of the Pavilion created by students of the University of San Marino, the stone artifact from Mount Titano created by the San Marino stonemasons of the AASLP, the graphic design of the Pavilion logo created by the Jam studio, and the "San Marino Expo 2025 Osaka Japan" stamp and coin, specially issued by Poste San Marino.
Also on display objects created by students from the University of San Marino's Design program, based on recommendations from the Commissioner's Office regarding ideal products for the shop.
The store set up inside the Pavilion has so far generated revenues of €400,000, demonstrating how much the quality and originality of the products have been appreciated by Japanese and international visitors.
San Marino's presence at EXPO allows it to express the uniqueness and exemplary nature of the Republic, the distinctiveness of its institutions, and its excellence, as well as its commitment to the most important issues facing our time. The role of Universal Expositions is, in fact, also to encourage discussion, overcoming conflicts and pursuing innovative solutions to the most pressing issues related to a sustainable future and peaceful coexistence.

Since the Pavilion's inauguration on April 13th, with a one-day influx of 20,000 visitors, the Expo has attracted a total of nearly three million people, a number expected to continue to grow.

The San Marino Pavilion deserves a unanimous applause. The University's contribution to this is fundamental, having translated the Expo concept "Designing Future Society For Our Lives" into practice through the creation of the exhibition space. This space is rich in important symbols of identity, perfectly representing the identity of the Republic of San Marino, starting with our Holy Founder, who in 301 AD inspired what has become a valid community and social project for the future, a model that places the person at its center, the cardinal principles of democracy, freedom, and peace, which are the founding values of our Republic.

Federico Pedini Amati, Minister of Tourism with responsibility for Expo, said: "With this inauguration, we officially begin a month in which citizens, visitors, and friends of San Marino will be able to experience Expo 2025 Osaka without having to fly halfway around the world. The exhibition is not just a collection of objects and documents, but a living story of the Republic of San Marino's participation in a global event, seen through the eyes of those who developed the design project that is now proudly on display in Japan. Inside these displays, you will find symbols, ideas, and projects that represent the work of the university, students, the Commissioner's Office, and the Ministry—a small taste of our Pavilion in Osaka, which is a destination for millions of visitors and is enjoying unique success."

At the inauguration of the San Marino exhibition at Expo 2025 Osaka “We are mountains” Professor Riccardo Varini, Professor Elena Brigi, the Rector of the University of San Marino Corrado Petrocelli, Dr. Alice Andreini, Head of External Relations and Sales of the Expo Commissioner's Office, Engineer Marco Renzi representing AASLP, Studio Jam, and the Director of the San Marino Post Office Gianluca Amici were present.

During the event, upcoming events were announced thanks to a video message from Filippo Francini, Commissioner General of the Republic of San Marino for Expo 2025 Osaka:
"Universal Expositions represent an international platform and an exceptional means of promoting a country. The Republic of San Marino participates to promote its essence; the Pavilion best expresses our uniqueness, perfectly embodying the theme "Designing Future Society For Our Lives."
There is just over a month to go until the end of Expo, but activities continue. There will be institutional panels, including the presence of Ministers. In particular, Minister Bevitori will participate in a panel on Energy and the Environment, organized by Expo. This will be followed by an exhibition on Philately and Numismatics. On October 9th and 10th, there will be musical performances and artistic performances: the Corte di Olnano, cellist Francesco Stefanelli, and Japanese singer Maria Takimugi, winner of the Renata Tebaldi International Competition."
