The Republic of San Marino hosted the leading tour operators of the Japanese market

Following San Marino's record-breaking participation in Expo 2025, which concluded on October 13, the Republic of San Marino returns to its leading position in the Japanese travel market. The exclusive family trip for representatives of Japan's leading tour operators concluded this afternoon. The trip was organized by the Tourism Board in collaboration with the General Commissioner's Office of the Republic of San Marino for Expo 2025, the Embassy of Japan in Italy, and with the technical support of DMC San Marino Welcome.

The educational program aims to enhance and strengthen the presence of the Republic of San Marino in Japanese tourist packages, highlighting the historical, cultural, naturalistic, and food and wine heritage of the San Marino region. The program also included specific site inspections of the main accommodations, restaurants, and points of interest in the area. Japanese operators particularly appreciated the visit to the Shinto Shrine in Lesignano and the wines of the Cantina di San Marino, thousands of which have already been sold with the special Expo 2025 label in Osaka.

"The value of participating in an event like Expo is also measured by projects like this. Expo is a unique promotional showcase whose value must be confirmed by following up on the contacts that are established and fostered. Japanese tourism institutions and businesses confirm that San Marino is an attractive destination to include in appropriate European and Italian tours or to sell directly, and this is why we want to strengthen our contacts with these tour operators. Thanks to those who worked hard to make this initiative possible, the Japanese Embassy in Rome, the Expo Commissioner's Office, and, of course, the Tourism Board," said Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati.

"The fam trip represented an important promotional opportunity that we enthusiastically welcomed, allowing Japanese tour operators to experience the authentic San Marino hospitality and the tourism offerings the Republic of San Marino can offer. The initiative fits well with the promotional activities that the Republic of San Marino has successfully undertaken to increase the international visibility of the tourist destination with the tourism booth at Expo Osaka 2025 and with its participation in the TEJ trade fair in Tokyo," stated Annachiara Sica, Director of the Tourism Board.

On the sidelines of the educational event, a meeting was held between the Ministry of Tourism and the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy in Italy and San Marino, Yujiro Hayashi, who confirmed the desire to continue collaborating with the Republic of San Marino and its institutions for the mutual promotion of tourism.
